SYNOPSIS
       u16 crc16(u16 crc, u8 const * buffer, size_t len);

ARGUMENTS
       crc
           previous CRC value

       buffer
           data pointer

       len
           number of bytes in the buffer

DESCRIPTION
       Returns the updated CRC value.
